A dental impression is an impression of the teeth made using impression material and an impression tray. Impression materials usually include plaster, silicone or alginate.
Nowadays, there are also digital methods to take dental impressions, such as 3D scanning, which is widely used by dentists. In dentistry, impressions are used to make braces, dentures or crowns.
