Diastema

The midline diastema is a gap between the central incisors and occurs mostly in the upper jaw.

Gaps between the upper incisors are sometimes considered a distinctive feature, but are also seen as beauty flaws. Veneers, crowns, composite abutments, aligners as well as conventional braces are possible solutions for closing tooth gaps. In some cases, the labial frenulum needs to be removed to close a tooth gap.
