The matrix retainer holds the matrix band in the correct position and is an aid for dental fillings.
The matrix band and the matrix retainer are used for interdental restorations. The matrix band is placed around the tooth and holds the filling material until it hardens. The matrix band is then removed and the filling is polished into the ideal shape.
