Mouth mirrors are also called dental mirrors or stomatoscopes. They are used to examine the oral cavity and the patient’s teeth. Mouth mirrors consist of a handle and a mirror that can usually be removed.
The ergonomically shaped mirror handles are either made of plastic or steel. The sizes of the mirrors range from 18 mm to 30 mm. The mouth mirror was invented by Joseph Murphy in 1811.
